Endress+Hauser’s Customer Experience Centre demonstrates environmental leadership by operating on a net-zero energy and carbon basis.

The building demonstrates environmental leadership by operating on a net-zero energy and carbon basis.

The facility was designed to extremely demanding environmental standards. The building generates its own electricity, heat, and cooling. It boasts a reflective roof with double-sided solar panels to generate green power during the day. At night, most electrically powered systems like video monitors will be turned off rather than draw even standby power and the building environment is maintained by heat pumps supplemented by a geothermal system.

Most of the heating and cooling in Waterloo Region could be done via geoexchange technology because of the area’s unique hydrogeology.

This discovery means the potential of viable geoexchange technology is much greater in the region than previously thought. The two aquifers provide Waterloo Region with a unique opportunity, says Matthew Day, program manager with WR Community Energy, the organization co-ordinating the region’s move to switch to renewable sources of energy.

Geothermal included in a groundbreaking new data centre that will create 30 jobs locally in North Bay Ontario.

Geothermal included in a groundbreaking new data centre that will create 30 jobs locally in North Bay Ontario.
"Our power plants capture the waste heat to generate electricity more efficiently, whilst reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Renewable geothermal cooling systems and heat from the data centre will be utilized to regulate climate within the data centre." stated in a press release by Validus Power Corp.

The North Bay site will enable Hut 8 to generate power using a blend of by-product steam, hydrogen and natural gas along with a secondary geothermal system that ties in the data centre facility.
