Environment and Climate Change...

Front and center at Ontario Geothermal Association 2016 AGM and Conference

The Hon. Glen Murray, Ontario Minister of Environment and Climate Change, opened the 2016 Ontario Geothermal Association (OGA) Annual General Meeting and Conference as the dinner keynote speaker on Thursday, February 4th.

Mr. Murray discussed the changes to our environment and how all industries will need to find new and cleaner ways of doing business to manage climate change and how the geothermal industry can make a difference in how we as Canadians heat and cool our buildings in the future.

This was a theme that ran throughout the conference, with a speaker program on Friday, February 5th that included discussions about Net Zero buildings through a panel discussion as well as a presentation by Mr. Paul Bony from the Electricity and Gas Industry Association (EGIA) in the USA and finding new ways to finance geothermal installations.

Mr. John Bosman chaired the annual general meeting portion of the conference. Prior to the OGA members voting on the slate of directors for 2015-2016, Mr. Bosman thanked those directors who retired from the board in the past year for their long-standing service and dedication to the Ontario Geothermal Assocation:
