Retrofitting buildings to reduce or replace fossil fuels for heating and cooling is high on the to-do list for the KW Region.
Based on an initial prefeasibility study with WR Community Energy, City of Kitchener staff are developing a business case for a district-energy project to provide shared, clean energy to a group of buildings in Kitchener’s Innovation District.
A centralized, ground source heat pump (geothermal) would generate heat and cold through piped hot and cold water. Check out the website to see what else is in the works for our region.
